PSA: Your Instagram Feed Could Be About To Change in a Very Big Way
For digitally savvy folk like us (not to mention influencers) one's Instagram profile is more than just a simple selection of photos. Instead, we'd argue it's a highly curated work intended to display one's ability to edit their life into a series of aesthetically pleasing snaps. But now, it looks likely that many of the envy-inducing accounts you follow (specifically the ones that take advantage of splitting full images into crops across the three-image grid) could be disrupted. Some users suspect Instagram is testing a new four-image grid, having noticed the app seemingly running the new format on their accounts on the sly.
Take a look below.
It seems this purported test could reflect a change in how people use the app, with Instagram's head of fashion partnerships, Eva Chen telling Refinery 29 that the aesthetic is changing: "There are fewer posed, perfectionist shots. If Instagram is attempting to completely disrupt the 'perfect photo', switching up grids could do it."
While not all of the app's trial-runs come to fruition, the Instagram devout have taken to Twitter to report their thoughts and feelings. For some, this switch may not be life-changing (it's just an app, after all), but for those attached to their phones and used to using the social channel to market their hustle, the potential new format could pose a problem.
