This IKEA Fashion Designer Collaboration Is Its Most Playful Collection Yet

IKEA has once again merged two of our favourite things—fashion and furniture—with the launch of a collection that is unexpectedly brighter and bolder than any other we’ve ever seen.

Following its successful collaboration earlier this year with London fashion designer, Katie Eary, the Swedish retail giant has now joined forces with another emerging British designer, Kit Neale, a man who is renowned for his playful, eclectic designs and who is as colourful as his collections.

The range, titled SPRIDD, which includes tents, rugs, mugs, and cushions has been aptly described “energetic, chaotic, and young.” The design house and eccentric menswear designer collectively drew inspiration from three characterised music styles to create the design expressions within the collection. The first was inspired by the electronic culture resulting in a kaleidoscopic montage of patterns; the second channelled the '90s hip hop culture that sees a bubblegum colour palette, and the third is a nod to the grunge and metal genres with a predominant black and white collection.

“Kit Neale’s designs and prints are all about youthful energy and attitude,” says IKEA country interior design manager, Tiffany Buckins. “His creative expression brings together music, travel, and fashion resulting in an incredible fun and electrifying range unlike any other IKEA has released.” Our hot tip? Run, don’t walk.
