This Is the Best Way to Tackle a Massive Project
Whether it’s updating the company’s editorial guidelines or a hallway closet that’s so jam-packed it won’t close, undertaking a massive project is a daunting task. Yes, you know it must be done, but what is the secret to stopping procrastination and actually tackling the issue at hand? According to a recent Inc. article, the best way to handle an intimidating project is to start it now. Easier said than done, right? However, there is only one way to move from where you are to where you want to be, and that is taking the first step. Andrew Powell, a leader at Open Systems Technologies, explains it like this: "No matter what end result you seek, there's only one way to get there. You've got to start," he says. "It may sound silly, may sound obvious, may seem like advice not worth giving. But we're an easily overwhelmed species. Nothing ever got finished that didn't first get started." Thus, whatever it is that you’re avoiding doing—your taxes, organising your closet, cleaning out the pantry—just do it.
