This historic hotel in Sydney’s Millers Point first opened in 1915 (when it was a popular pub for port workers), and since closing down in 2008 has been renovated. It has just reopened its inviting doors to coincide with its 100th anniversary, and inside it’s an interior dream. This comes as no surprise as MyDomaine Australia contributor, Sibella Court, is the creative genius behind the overhaul of Hotel Palisade.

Situated in prime Sydney real estate overlooking the harbour, Millers Point and Barangaroo, Hotel Palisade is the city’s latest hotspot. The destination is now a bar, restaurant, and boutique hotel and boasts a stunning 360-degree view. Enjoy it on the large balcony with a cocktail in hand from the Henry Deane cocktail bar.

The interior, in true Sibella Court style, is authentic, inviting, and charming. Court was inspired by the journey of the building, from past to present, and the small trades of eras passed—the handtooled, handsmithed and handtinkered.

“Everything you see and feel are bespoke, handcrafted items by locally based master craftsmen and tradesmen,”says Court. “The fixtures and finishes are a nod to this industrial past, using humble and honest materials—zinc, steel, leather, canvas, copper, and timber.” Scroll down the tour the welcoming establishment.
