6 Interior Styling Lessons We Learned From These Influencers' Instagram Accounts

Nicole Singh

When it comes to Australia's fashion style set, more often than not, these It girls are not only sartorially accomplished, but also moonlight as interior aficionados with their homes, too. So when it comes to predicting the latest interior trends and building our shopping lists for the new season, we often take a quick scroll through their feeds to find the perfect pieces that will elevate our own homes. This week's focus? Home office styling.

From gilded accents, velvet statement pieces and layering techniques, see below for the six office styling lessons we've learned from these Australian influencers and their own offices, and shop similar items.

TIP #1: USE METALLICS TO CREATE A FOCAL POINT

If you like to keep the clutter on your desk to a minimum, follow in Erin Maxwell's immaculate styling footsteps by adding a metallic accent on your wall. This will allow for an interesting focal point without requiring much desk decoration.

TIP #2: LAYER TEXTURES AND TONES FOR A FULLER LOOK

If there's an influencer who knows how to strategically layer, it's Brooke Testoni. In her own home office, she uses artwork, gilded mirrors, and even interesting vases to give her space a polished Art Deco feel.

TIP #3: use a tray for smaller objects

If you're anything like us, there are a few non-negotiables for our desk spaces. These include crystals, perfume, lip balm, and other accessories that help us go from day-to-night dressing. Here, Talisa Sutton has perfectly tackled the clutter by placing these trinkets in a tray, which also adds a pretty detail to her space.

TIP #4: add a statement item into the mix

While we will always love the flexibility of neutral tones and fibres, we really can't go past a velvet accent in any space. Case in point: Carmen Hamilton's use of a velvet chair in her space.

TIP #5: KEEP INSPIRATION CLOSE BY

Letterer and designer, Jasmine Dowling definitely understands a thing or two about interior styling, just take a simple scroll through her Instagram feed to see why. We love how she uses soft tones as her inspiration and stacks her favourite tomes to serves as shelving on her desk.

TIP #6: SCENT ADDS THE FINAL TOUCH

Research has often proved the de-stress benefits scent can have. Apart from looking good, candles serve as the perfect calming force in a busy work day. We love Nadia Rosa's choice of juxtaposing Maison D'amore scents.
