If you’re hosting a big Christmas gathering, you may have guests sharing bedrooms. To keep evening disturbances to a minimum, include task lighting so that one person’s late-night reading session doesn’t turn into another’s sleepless night.
It’s always nice to have fresh flowers in the house. But when you have guests in town, there’s nothing like a bunch of blooms to pretty up their room and brighten their mood.
Being able to spend the holidays with loved ones is what the Christmas season is all about. But let’s face it: travel is stressful and tiring, no matter where you're coming from. Your visitor may be ready to hit the ground running and explore all that your city has to offer, or he or she may also just want to kick back and relax with a good book. Make it easy for your guests to choose the mellow path by setting up a comfortable spot where they can unwind for a spell. Having extra books and magazines within arm’s reach will make the area even more inviting.

If you’re like us, you always leave some key toiletry item at home. We always feel slightly embarrassed about having to ask for these things, but you can head off this conversation by placing a collection of basic toiletry items (cotton balls, cotton buds, toothpaste, and an extra toothbrush) in pretty containers. It’s a small but super thoughtful way to show your guests that you’ve been anticipating their arrival and want to make sure they have everything they need.

Just as extra blankets and toiletries will make your guests feel especially welcome, setting out things like a carafe of water and a catch-all for small items like jewelry will keep your guests from wondering where to get water late at night, and will make it easier for them to keep track of their things.
