How You Can Make the Most of Daylight Savings

It’s an awesome time of year—the days are getting warmer, the nights balmier, and the days longer (for the five out of eight lucky states—sorry QLD, WA and NT). To ensure you’re making the most of the extra post-work daylight before winter rolls around again, Huffington Post Australia has compiled some excellent ways to take advantage. As we already know, getting outside is good for you, so don’t wait for the weekend to get out there, make it a weeknight ritual. Keep scrolling for some alfresco inspiration.

Head to the beach

If you're lucky enough to live near the ocean, daylight savings presents the perfect opportunity to up your beach time. Why not take your togs to work and head to the beach the minute you clock off? The sun will still be high in the sky and it's a perfect way to wash off the day.

Still a bit too nippy to get in the water? Why not go for a stroll, run in the soft sand for a work out or simply drink in the view. Your body (and mind) will thank you for it

Go for a walk

It doesn't matter whether you go for a bush bash or take a stroll around your neighbourhood—walking is a great way to get out and about with numerous health benefits to boot.

Who knows? You could stumble across a new bar or restaurant you never would have noticed if you hadn't hit the pavement—or, you could get out into nature and explore. Take a mate with you and find out how quickly the time flies when you're chatting as you go. Sydney-siders can check out five awesome walks here.

Take up a sport

The idea of heading down to the local tennis courts when it's pitch black and chilly might not be so appealing—but it's a different kettle of fish when the sun is shining. Whether it's tennis, basketball, or even some good old fashioned handball, learning a new sport is a great way to get active and catch up with friends. Or even make new ones. Beats the gym, we say.
