Where is the home located?
In the inner city suburb of Hawthorn, Melbourne.
What is the street where the home is situated like?
It’s a narrow, leafy quiet street between two main streets. From my balcony I can hear birds chirping in the trees. I love being surrounded by the sounds of nature.
What do you love about the area?
I love the quiet nature of the suburb, how approachable and talkative my neighbours are, and the countless leafy streets where I can walk my dog, Honey. I also enjoy the endless café and bar offerings that are constantly popping up in the neighbourhood.
What attracted you to the house and ultimately made you fall in love with it and buy it?
It was a beautifully made apartment with lots of natural light streaming in and a gorgeous view overlooking lots of greenery and the lights of the city. All the fixtures and fittings were of a very high quality and the place is very secure and peaceful.
How would you describe the style of the home?
My personal style is very feminine and classic—I love mixing a little bit of vintage with modern design and my home is an extension of this. It’s sophisticated and eclectic. The way a home is designed should reflect the style and taste of the owner, and create an environment that is inspiring, loving, uplifting and warm. I have an eclectic mix of furniture and decor in my abode. I love mixing styles and combining contemporary with a touch of history as I love to travel and collect beautiful things from around the world. As I was born in Rome and experienced the European culture, I appreciate pieces of artistic value that are decorative, ornamental and that have meaning and nostalgia which tell a story (I love being a storyteller, which I feel is reflected in my work). I love fashion, glamour, and all things gold.
Did you buy the home as is, or have you done renovations since you moved in?
I bought the apartment as is and I haven’t added much except the a few touches here and there.
How many rooms does the home have?
Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a large balcony with vista views of the city and surrounding suburbs.
What sort of home is yours – for example is it an entertaining type of house, where you have friends over for dinner parties or is it more of your sanctuary where you get away?
It’s my sanctuary for me to indulge and relax in. Having said that, I love having friends over to entertain and cook for—I love cooking a variety of cuisines but mainly Italian—must be my heritage!
What is your favourite piece/s in the home?
Some of my favourite things include a Venetian gold glass horse head from Venice; a set of original Art Deco framed prints from Paris with beautiful illustrations; and my Jonathon Adler marble and gold coffee table that I had sent over from LA.
