5 Stylish It-Girl Living Rooms You'll Want to Steal
The most important design detail of any living room is that it measures up to its name and feels, well, livable. This means durable furniture, comfortable linens, and plenty of seating. Since the living room is also one of the most public areas in your home, first impressions definitely count. So how do you turn it into the cosy oasis you crave while also ensuring it's well-curated and aesthetically pleasing when guests arrive?
To seek some stylish counsel, we turned to the many celebrity home tours we've shot at MyDomaine HQ and compiled five of our favourites. Unsurprisingly, this roundup of A-lister living rooms has all the answers. Take style notes from chic influencers like Rebecca Minkoff, Harley Viera-Newton, Brooklyn Decker, and more. Once you've had your inspiration fix, shop our picks to bring the looks home.
Luxe Meets Family-Friendly
Rebecca Minkoff's home features one of our all-time-favourite living rooms. During our shoot, Minkoff told us she wanted to make sure the result was chic but still kid-friendly: "We wanted it to feel like we could put our feet up and not worry about whether a little wine or yoghurt spills on the sofa."
The fashion designer brings her natural warmth into the living room with plush rugs and colourful wall pieces. To elevate and brighten a dark room, look no further than a glammed-out light fixture. Also, choosing the right fabrics for your furniture is the best way to make a sofa comfortable for the whole family (and stain-resistant, in case of any accidents).
Scandinavian in California
When we first encountered Jacey Duprie of Damsel in Dior's home, the living room walls were slathered in a neon-green hue while the floors were covered in dated stone tiles. These were just two of the many things Duprie and her husband changed when they renovated their 1919 West Los Angeles home. The duo also swapped out the tiling for modern hardwood flooring and gave the walls a makeover with crisp white paint.
Given her background in fashion, it's no surprise that end result was nothing short of stylish, especially where the living room is concerned. "One of our goals was to have the house feel as neat and tidy as a James Perse store," she told MyDomaine. "We went along with that colour scheme because it is very easy to bring other trendy elements into the space." The neutral tones in her living room are perfect for the stylised seating and low-maintenance greenery. The overall impression? A California feel with some Scandinavian touches.

Bright Whites and Romance
Even people with incredible taste collaborate with a professional interior designer on major home renovations. So when fashion designer Erin Fetherston told us that she single-handedly tackled the design of her California home, we were seriously impressed. She explains: "I didn't want to bring any of my old stuff from New York. I just wanted to start from scratch." The aesthetic of her living room is quintessential L.A. cool.
That leisurely pace of West Coast living is expressed in the neutral colour scheme and coordinating linens, all of which were designed by Fetherston. The romance that is so unique to her clothing is also reflected in the brass accents throughout the living room. Though subtle, getting the proportions right can really carry a room. Erin reminds us that "in fashion design, of course, you are making clothes with sensitivity to the body. In interiors, you're working with the dimensions of a room."
On the other hand, DJ and fashion influencer Harley Viera-Newton proves it can be just as visually pleasing to play with proportions. In her hip living room, she took note from Alice in Wonderland and the Surrealists by contrasting unique angular shapes with more rounded, organic ones.
Her lofty space in SoHo is the perfect backdrop for all her amazing vintage finds. Her living room in particular does a great job of showcasing her personality, thanks to her playful mix of interaction retro and contemporary pieces. If we had to choose our favourite touches, we'd have to go with that incredible Arco light or the iconic Eames lounge chair.

Ranch-y With a Modern Twist
The lofted, exposed-beam ceiling in actress Brooklyn Decker's living room creates the perfect atmosphere for cosy gatherings and romantic evenings by the fireplace. As she mentioned to us during our home tour, she and her husband have an "open-door policy" with friends and family. If you also like to entertain your guests and spend a lot of time in the living room with friends, follow Decker's lead and opt for ample seating space.
Antique furniture is also a great way to exude hospitality and comfort, thanks to the lived-in look. Antiques tend to be durable (they've lasted this long, at least!), and we all know that's crucial when a lot of folks are coming in and out of your home. Personally, we're obsessed with the denim-and-leather combo.
