How to Do the South of France Like an A-Lister (Without Spending Like One)
If you follow celebrities on Instagram, it's highly likely your feed has been awash with images from Cannes Film Festival. Every year, the iconic event draws the biggest names in the industry to the south of France, from actors Jessica Chastain and Nicole Kidman to It girls like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid.
While most eyes are fixed on the red carpet, we were intrigued to know how the stars spend their time off-duty—whether it be at a favourite French restaurant, taking in the views from an iconic hotel, or exploring the resort town from the water.
Considering a vacation to France? Here's everything you need to know to explore Cannes like an A-lister, without spending like one.
Visit an Iconic Hotel
You don't have to book a room to see some of the most beautiful hotels in the south of France. Be sure to wander the long pathway up to Hotel du Cap Eden Roc, Antibes, a celebrity favourite that often plays host to the Chanel cruise show and extravagant weddings. Hotel Martinez is another must-see; Robert Pattinson and Scarlett Johansson have both been guests.
Sample French Fare
Make a reservation at Tetou, a seafood restaurant down the road from Hotel du Cap Eden Roc, to spot a celebrity. Angelina Jolie, Steven Spielberg, and Clint Eastwood have all dined there.
Book a Boat Tour
We mightn't all be able to hitch a ride on a friend's mega-yacht like Victoria's Secret model Sara Sampaio, but there are other ways to explore the coast on a budget. Opt for a commercial boat trip to see the sparkling Ligurian Sea to view the famous resort town from the water.
Soak up Some Sun on La Croisette
Don't have access to a private pool like Emily Ratajkowski? Wander the promenade La Croisette and relax on one of the yellow sun loungers on the beach.
