What if we said we could hook you up with a wedding planner that won't make you pay a lofty price and won’t follow you around with a clipboard 24/7? This probably sounds too good to be true, but in the digital age, if our smartphones can function as personal assistants and interior designers, they can also be our wedding planners—at least if you're using the right tools. That’s right: The App Store is your oyster. Think about it… Your iPhone has an incredibly flexible schedule, accessible any time, anywhere.
While we can’t promise that these apps will make your wedding completely stress-free, we can promise that they’ll help you stay organised, and thus keep the meltdowns to a minimum. So without further ado, read on, and don't let the stress of wedding-planning take away from the romance of your big day by utilising these life-saving apps. They're only a virtual hop, tap, and click away!
Zola is known for its shopping perks, and since shopping happens to be our favorite vice, we're pretty excited about this one. It promises to give the lowest cash fee; you can go beyond the dreaded single-store registry and keep your guests in the loop, making it easier for you to quote Regina George and tell your guests, "Get in! We're going shopping."
This is for those of you who want to add experiences or a honeymoon fund to the registry, allowing your guests to pitch into pricier gift requests. So if your home (or more precisely, dishwasher) is already fully loaded with pots and pans, or if you simply aren’t interested in stocking up on kitchen supplies, Zola enables you to customize your wedding registry outside the cookware realm. And, of course, if you really are in the market for some dishes, Zola can accommodate that, too.

Here's another free wedding-planning app that'll save you a ton of money while also helping you manage everything from vendors, dress fittings, music selection, and payment schedules. Your customised schedule is built around the anticipated wedding date, so the calendar will help you stay on track by alerting you when there's a deadline coming up. As a result, the countdown to your big day is fun and exciting instead of a stressful time bomb. You can also share your account with your fiancé, the maid of honor, or even the mailman… whoever you please, since you're the admin and it's your special day.
This one is great for—you guessed it—budgeting. The Wedding Budget Calculator will remind you of tasks you may not otherwise remember, which is crucial for making your wedding payments on time and staying within your budget. It's also preloaded with certain tasks so you make sure to hit everything on the wedding to-do list, like getting clothing alterations and ordering program stationary. Aside from reminding you or due dates and specific tasks, it'll also give you weekly summaries to consider while planning out your general finances.
The budgeting feature of Appy Couple is unique in that it provides the user with info about the average amount people spend on each item, letting you gauge whether you're overspending or underspending. You can also customize the actual layout of the app so that the background filter coordinates with the aesthetic and color scheme you choose for the actual event.
With so many things to keep track of, minding our manners can take a back seat, but not under Appy Couple's watch. It's perfect for communicating with guests and keeping them happy throughout the entire process, from plus-ones to entrée selections. It even has a guest concierge service that will create travel itineraries and local guides for a destination wedding. As if that wasn't convincing enough, the app also keeps the fun alive with cute features, like toasting to your guests with a "pop some virtual champagne." Sayonara, wedding planner.
While Evernote Premium wasn't designed specifically with the intention of helping you plan your wedding, it's a great organisational tool that'll keep all your projects—romantic or otherwise—running smoothly. Want to explore the entire web through one app to find the right vendors and color schemes? The searchable webpage feature from Evernote Premium has your back. Need to manage your guest list? What about storing, sharing, and editing photos?
And if including a personal touch is important to you throughout the wedding-planning process, you don't have to have to worry about compromising that by opting for an app over a wedding planner. Evernote Premium lets you illustrate directly in the app as well as crafting handwritten notes, so if you have rockstar penmanship (I'd have to sit this one out), here's the wedding planner of your dreams.
Here's an app that's brought to you by acclaimed wedding website The Knot. If you're already familiar with The Knot and think your taste aligns with it perfectly, I now pronounce you app and user. The best part about The Knot is that it actually allows you to apply your aspirations, providing both inspiration as well organisational tools to help you to sort out the logistics. Also, this one is totally free, so it's perfect for those of you on a tight budget. To help you stay within your budget, it includes labels the essential tasks that you should prioritise so you can narrow down the pricier tasks if need be. Once you decide what you need and can afford, The Knot will help you find and communicate with vendors and book venue tours.
And last (but definitely not least) is Pinterest. I don't know about you, but my index finger was made for pinning, and while I don't hear wedding bells in my near future, my boards tell a different narrative entirely. It's probably the best place on the web for idea generation, and it allows you to keep track of all your visual aspirations in a supremely user-friendly way. So if you're the queen of saving things for later, this is your wedding-planning-app spirit animal.
