After a Fine Red That Won't Break The Bank? One Word: Aldi
Though Aldi is commonly known as a global discount supermarket chain, one thing's for sure: They know how to curate a premium wine selection. A few months ago, it made headlines with its $8 rosé, and now, its causing a stir with it One Road South Australian & Heathcote Shiraz, which has recently won Wine of the Year at the Melbourne International Wine Competition in the Best Value Shiraz category.
And though I am far from a wine connoisseur, I know a few basics, such as the proper vernacular to use when speaking of its flavours, and your classic wine-cheese pairings at dinner parties. And because I am particularly attracted to the deep notes found in shiraz, I can confirm it's as good as the judges say.
If like me, you find it hard to splurge on a pricey option, no matter how rave the reviews are, we suggest ducking out to your nearest Aldi to try it for yourself. Or keep scrolling to buy it online. Chin-chin!
