If You Don't Visit a Paddington Pub This Weekend, You're Missing Out

Long weekends are the gift that just keeps giving. An extra day without emails, meetings, or deadlines, plus the bonus time to spend with your family. Or maybe you get a bigger kick out of the thrill of being able to stay out late on a Sunday night? To celebrate turning off that Monday morning alarm (and maybe even cancelling that session with your personal trainer), we have compiled a list of our favourite pubs in Sydney's Paddington to eat, drink, and enjoy a well-deserved break. From dining on award-winning chefs' fare, to sipping cocktails at a laid-back rooftop bar, there's something for everyone on this list. And the best part is, they’re open until late, so you can make the most of your free-time and order a whiskey sour (or three).

Keep scrolling to see what Paddington has to offer this long weekend.

The Garden at The Lord Dudley

Having just undergone a refurbishment, The Garden restaurant sits beneath a new glass atrium, making you feel like you’ve been transported to a chic greenhouse in England. The hidden oasis sits within the family-run pub with delicious classics on the menu, such as bangers and mash, and a braised chicken pie with double-smoked bacon and leek.

The Paddington

This establishment is nothing short of world-class. With a stunning cocktail bar, restaurant and private room, The Paddington is where you take your girlfriends to start your Saturday night. The restaurant serves a selection of creative mains, as well as share plates from its late night menu.

The Light Brigade

Date night alert! The Light Brigade’s rooftop has spectacular views of the city, plus a relaxed and cool vibe for you and your partner to drink and dine all evening. Woodfire pizzas are a staple here, so take your pick from the long list—our favourite is the Gamberi. Then, grab a cocktail and gaze out at the view. Weekend sorted.

The Royal

Every level of this heritage pub has a different feel to it, but head straight up to the Elephant Bar and Rooftop—the ultimate cool hangout. (Walking up a few flights of stairs has never been more worth it.) The roof is an intimate space that only holds 40 people, so secure a spot early. Feeling a bit hungry? We recommend the Tuna Poke share plate.

The Paddington Inn

With top chef Matt Moran overseeing the grill and menu you know you won't be disappointed. The Paddo is known for its quality meat and seafood that will leave you wanting more. Not a meat eater? There are vegetarian options that are just as mouth-watering. Book a big table and order an Elder's Wisdom cocktail—you will want another two after the first sip.
