The Sydney Newsagent That is More Stylish Than Your Apartment

Dated, rundown newsagents are a thing of the past, thanks to this state-of-the-art version that has just opened at Sydney’s Barangaroo. While nothing can halt our love of newsagents (who doesn’t appreciate browsing aisles of stationery and an endless collection of magazines?), this new establishment has just reignited our passion for them.

News Essentials—which was designed by the talented female trio behind interior design firm TomMarkHenry—boasts an unexpected ultramodern fit-out, complete with a head-turning in-window neon sign, an abstract marble-meets-timber floor, and design features that are a nod to the world of print. The design firm say they were inspired to hero the old world of print brought into the current day, and translated this through the use of traditional materials and detailing, juxtaposed against the unexpected clean lines of perforated metal. Stationery, magazine, and interior lovers, rejoice!
